Ausbildung in Germany — earn while you learn

Ausbildung is Germany's state-recognised vocational training program. You spend 2–3.5 years splitting time between a vocational school (Berufsschule) and a sponsoring employer. The employer pays you a monthly Ausbildungsvergütung (training allowance) of €800–€1,200, you finish with a Kammerprüfung certificate, and most trainees are kept on as permanent staff. Roles span nursing, mechatronics, IT specialists, hotel management, retail, and 350+ more.

You need a 10+2 or equivalent secondary qualification, B1 German for most programs (B2 for nursing and healthcare), and a sponsoring employer in Germany. There is no upper age limit on paper, but most successful applicants are 18–30. We help you build the application portfolio, write a German CV (Lebenslauf), and shortlist employers whose hiring rounds you are competitive in.

Once an employer issues an Ausbildungsvertrag (training contract), you apply for a § 16a vocational training visa. The German consulate typically processes it in 6–10 weeks. After completing Ausbildung you can convert to a § 18a skilled worker residence permit, and apply for permanent residency after 2 years of qualified employment. Spouses can join you with a dependent visa.
